Insurance Price

When you renew your FFRR insurance do you just renew as Market Value , or Do you guesstimate a figure what you think your car is worth and insure it for that amount .... Whistle ====================================

"Open Mike Night " sounded like a lot of fun until i found out i was going to an Autopsy

dont think it matters to them what your value is.
they will offer bottom book price unless you take out a policy that guarantee's the value you both agreed on

They will offer the minimum. The ONLY REASON they ask for your version of the value, is just in case you have a lower figure than them! Evil or Very Mad My Previous RR's!

Yes - the days of not accepting the first offer is long gone - basically they offer you a price and that is it ! I went through all the hassle over a year ago when a rock smashed the gearbox of my Merc s600 and wrote the car off ! Got nowhere near what it would have cost to get a similar replacement Sad

my friend got his Harley written off - he refused the insurance prices until the third offer

he basically told them to get him the 'same' harley in the same condition etc - they could not!

when i insured my harley v rod i did it thru harley davidson insurance(which i think is carol nash insurance).
anyway, they do the insurance as an agreed valuation on harleys because these bikes are normally so customised they don't use a book price.
only stipulation is that you have to get a signed document on renewal from a harley dealer to confirm all the"add ons"
the hassle is worth the extra agreed valuation though Thumbs Up

I also have an agreed value on my Defender - I get the local specialist indie who also deals in Defenders to give me a signed document for them and they are happy with that. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Probably not important if claiming off your own insurance but worth the argument if claim from a third party (if it was their fault).

I argued with a 3rd party ins co recently when some bright spark wrote my CLK off. (drove into me on a dual carriageway) My car was 10 years old but low mileage and mint condition. There were basically none out there even remotely close to mine in age/engine size/spec and condition. Insurance co first offered me £5,200 to write it off and I challenged them. I suggested they gave me no money but put as similar a car as they could to my old one on my drive and (subject to me agreeing spec etc) I'd be happy. They declined that offer but eventually settled for a shade over £10K for me to replace it.

Worth the conversation but as I said, probably more relevant when the accident was not my fault at all. Ash

Wife and I have our cars insured with Hiscox.

Pricey. But one of the things that appeals was the fact there's an agreed valuation on each.

They sometimes review the agreed valuation at renewal time.

You don't need expensive insurance for an agreed valuation. Wink
I've got it on my Morris Minor which fully comp costs me £77.82p per year.
Includes breakdown cover and unlimited milage too! Laughing
