SDV8 OIL

I've just purchased an L405 SDV8. On my previous Sport TDV8 I used Castrol Stop Start engine oil. What is the best or manufacturer recommended oil for SDV8 please?

If you look at ownerinfo.landrover.com and go to the "topping up the engine oil" section there is a link to "lubricants and fluids" which gives the specs to be met. LR seem to work with Castrol and that is what the dealer that services mine uses. Only Range Rovers since 1988

CS,
Thank you very much for your advice. I will need to get used to this modern way of doing things- I've only had older cars before. I'm in Stirling but work over in Edinburgh quite often, any recommendations for a good independent lr garage?

Back in the day Morrisons in Stirtling had a good reputation, but now of course part of a larger group and I have no information on what they are like.

I've been a customer of Lloyd Land Rover (before Lloyds took over Croall Bryson) in Kelso since 2000 and am content to keep using them, so have not investigated local independents. They do have a big new showroom to pay for so will likely be more expensive than an indy, but perhaps cheaper than Pentland. In the past they offered a collection/delivery service for Edinburgh customers, if that would suit you. I've been happy with the quality of Lloyds' work, and find them pleasant and helpful, I tend to think that in places like the Borders businesses care more about their reputation than in larger places like Edinburgh. Only Range Rovers since 1988

In terms of Oil specs It needs to meet Ford spec WSS-M2C924-B.

There are a few oils out there which meet this and the number is growing. I use Shell Helix Ultra AF-L but there are other cheaper oils which will meet the spec, indeed comma do Ecolife 5W30 which meets the spec too and is about £20 less than shell for 10l. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
