Tailgate drops down after opening?

On the new to me L405 my wife was questioning the height of the tailgate as opens and then drops down?

She’s tried to follow the manual to increase the height but to no avail,

Is this normal or is there a problem?

It could be an issue with one of the motors, hinges or anti-trap sensors if the reset procedure isn't working. It sounds to me that excess current is being drawn at the top extent causing the control module to go into 'topped out, back off' mode and lower the tailgate slightly. Not an easy one to properly diagnose without access to live values - does the liftgate feel consistent in its movement if you manually lift & lower it? Does the alarm siren chirp when the liftgate lowers itself?
