Access Height

Can anyone tell me if its possible to program a MY11 FFRR to go into access height when the car stops without having to always hit the access button on the drivers door???...I looked through the handbook and to be honest I can't see it mentioned specifically but sometimes smarter people than me discover ways of doing things like this which you don't always get in the handbooks ...I would have thought a switch on/off function would have been a useful thing to have had in the vehicle set up menu but I can't see it anywhere Crying or Very sad

I'd be surprised if LR would allow a feature like that jim. They won't even allow it to raise or lower with a door open for 'safety reasons' so I'll be shocked if they will let it lower without driver input. Would it not be a pain going up and down in stop start traffic? My Previous RR's!

I know what you mean hoppy..I just thought that it would be more convenient if there were a function that when you put the car into P the height could drop to allow easier access???... doesn't look like it though Big Cry

access mode should only be selected when the vehicle is still moving so when the car is in park it means its not moving and you cant put it in access.. ... - .- -.

That is no longer the case. Access mode can be enabled when the vehicle is at a standstill, even with the engine off.

I know what you are saying here but to me it would make much more sense to have the car lower itself automatically when in park position...and be able to disable that function if so desired

I know what you mean. When you switch it off and select park it should:

1) Automatically lower to access height
2) Turn the headlights on (if it's dark) WITHOUT pressing a button
3) Send a wifi message to the house turning the lights on
4) Turn down the bed
Laughing

We can wish.....

As per scarey - access mode shouldn't be selected unless the vehicle is moving - it CAN be selected whilst still, but the manual recommends against it. I thought the later vehicles were the same? I could check - but I don't really care that much tbh.

As for dropping to access mode as soon as you're in park the danger with this would be that you could have parked over an obstacle whilst off road. Think tree stump or rock etc, you could then lower right through your fuel tank or something.

In this instance it's not that LR are going to get sued - its that the Range Rover has to be competent off road therefore all parking situations have to be accounted for. That and the suspension angles change when the height does so you get bad tyre scrub and excessive load on ball joints when the car is lowered whilst stationery. Perhaps why RR's eat through balljoints?

Also if you raise/lower the car while stationary you can hear the suspension components creaking, which cannot be good for them. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

absolutely right Tim

we have had this discussion before on the forum - and quite a few members were not aware?
in the handbook it should be in BOLD LETTERS?
