How many different cars have I had where this happened for a variety of reasons
In my minis ( I am going back a bit now) the fuel pump would pack up, and either be OK on a restart or required the whack with a rubber mallet to get going again.
In my MG Midget, it used to happen that the car cut out when I went round a corner, and then would start again immediately. Took me quite a while to track it down to the coil, which once replaced solved the issue.
Not had the problem in the FFRR, but will now I have said that .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember
