Ford Engine Failure/ Specialist? North West or Yorkshire? | |
For a family member:
Ford Transit Custom Diesel 2.2 - Former AA car, approx 140k miles.
Vehicle being driven on motorway the other day. Red oil light came on along with yellow engine malfunction warning and cut out. Driver pulled onto hard shoulder. Dip stick indicated lower although not below minimum oil level. Oil topped up at roadside. Vehicle started, driver set off and vehicle cut out again on hard shoulder after 200 yards. Following day, oil pressure switch was changed and engine oil topped up fully which had the effect of putting out the red oil light.
Vehicle now starts each time when left until cold but after running for approx 30 seconds to 1 minute the engine cuts out. Upon restart attempts, it sounds sounds sluggish on turnover and won't restart until left until cold again.
Driver describes hearing a very slight knocking sound from the bottom end of the engine.
Oil pump failure?
Crankshaft failure?
Thoughts as to the type of issue welcome.
Also, does anyone know of and can recommend any independent Ford engine/ rebuild specialists in the North West or Yorkshire please (said family member uses this otherwise good vehicle for their self employed business and needs to get it back on the road ASAP)?
Thanks.
