Many years ago I bought a classic in Devon and got my ex wife to drive the old classic back to the otherside of Glasgow while I towed the caravan with the new car. Current cars

OP, you're not alone, I can relate. I had initially purchased mine with the intention of using it as a weekend / recreational vehicle (That's what I was saying around anyway). When I first got it, after the obligatory service, I thought I should drive it for a while to diagnose any hidden faults before leaving it to the Mrs. for the weekdays. Then found myself somehow making up all sorts of excuses to just keep driving those 100km of daily commute to work in the FF instead of the Freelander. Have put another 17k km on the clock in 10 months of ownership. I just love driving this thing!
