What pressure washer do you use/ rate?

What pressure washer do you rate for your RR?

Our 15 year old Karcher 520M gave up the ghost the other day. Just making a humming noise and offering no pressured water delivery. It’s supposed to be a 120 bar pressure machine.

Not convinced it’s knackered, am told it’s robust, better than Karcher’s newer models and should be repairable and repaired.

Meantime though, what’s helping to keep the cars’ pristine!

Mrs pld advised me to just buy a new, equivalent or better, Karcher because it’s used so much.

However, some brief research later (incl. Detailing World and Screwfix reviews), I’ve bought this for £84.99. Comes with a 2 year warranty:

TITAN TTB669PRW 130BAR PRESSURE WASHER 1.8KW 240V -
A pressure washer with aluminium pump and automatic motor stop. Supplied with quick-connect, compact telescopic handle for easy storage, turbo lance and patio cleaner for multiple uses.
* 1.8kW Universal Motor
* 360Ltr/hr Max. Flow Rate
* 6m High Pressure Hose
* Auto Motor Stop
* Variable Spray Nozzle
* Water Inlet Filter
* Accessory Storage
* 2 Year Manufacturer's Guarantee (T&Cs Apply)
* Automatic Control
* Quick-Change What pressure washer do you rate for your RR?

First impressions:
Decent build quality all round for the money, particularly given the reviews and the 2 year warranty;
It’s more powerful than our Karcher 520M (which was plenty powerful);
It’s not as noisy as the Karcher, the TITAN sounding more like an industrial hoover;
TITAN gun/ lance is not compatible with the Karcher compatible snow foam bottle attachment... but... the Karcher hose and gun connects to the TITAN unit so you can jet wash with the Karcher gun/ lance and and use the Karcher compatible snow foam bottle;
So far so good and with the warranty, seems to me to be a bit of a bargain Thumbs Up

I replaced my Karcher with another Karcher.

I know...... but I'm a creature of habit

I've got a Karcher K4. Seems pretty good and I have had it about three years. I think older versions had a lot of problems. Here is a recent wash using the K4 and snow foam attachment

Karcher all the way, I have 2 of em, a High Pressure steam cleaner and a cold water one K4 or K6, cant remember.

When you say it's buzzing, does it feel like the motor is turning? if it isnt it's usually the capacitor thats failed, two minute job to replace and circa £9 on eBay.

we got a Karcher K5 Car Kit Eco Home Water-Cooled Pressure Washer 2100W 140bar for under £250 quid back in 2013, it also came with some accessories, have to say it's still pretty damm good 7 years later, and we have 4 cars that get cleaned with it on a fairly regular basis

I use a Kranzle 1050TST and it is brilliant. Build quality is superb and it is very powerful. My dad has a Karcher K7 and it is easily as powerful as that, but much more user friendly and seems to be more robust.

This is usually the time the Nilfisk mob get on their collective high horse and decry anything Karcher produced in the last 5 millennia.

I use a Karcher K4. It has a metal pump and it far more robust than the cheaper plastic pump versions. Mine is used to clean our cars but also to clean the patio areas around our Greek home; and there's a lot of it. I suspect at least 1000 sqr metres. In 5 years it's had 2 minor repairs that have cost €50 each time. 2017 5.0 Autobiography Supercharged

I have had a Karcher K4 for 3/4 years.
Bought a pressure hose extension as well.
When we have had enough rain I plug it into the water butt.
Good for patios, and for extreme cleaning the algae/lichen/green stuff out of the convertible hood on my wife's TT.
Don't tend to use it on the cars any more for washing, overkill, we have decent mains water pressure, so hosepipe with spray gun is the order of the day here.

Would like the reel on the Kranzle to control the hoses though Thumbs Up .

A Trap

I (Corbyn) endorse Karcher as well

Your old pressure washer is fixable, all parts are available on eBay etc.

As it is Switching on and just humming I would guess the motor start capacitor has blown, it’s common and easily fixed for cheap, table the plastic case off, you will see a big white capacitor, take the number off it and look on eBay.... the old capacitor may show signs of bulging as it failed.

I swapped the capacitor on the Karcher with a new Karcher capacitor bought for £17.50 from the local Karche centre and it’s still just humming Question

I’ve used the Karcher Outlet Web store several times and got some good buys. Comes in a brown box and the product looks completely new. They have a shorter guarantee but you can extend for about £10. Last time I looked they had both K4 and K5 available in their sale section. I’ve just bought a new Karcher from their professional range, aimed more at the building trade and professional car washers, absolutely delighted. All fittings are metal and generally more solid construction. I bought the HP4/11 from HowesTools for £320 delivered (RRP about £550) so a good buy. Pressure is 160, so extremely powerful.
