A new noise, any ideas

I noticed a single metallic click sort of noise as I was coasting very slowly to a stop and very lightly touched the brakes. It can be replicated easily. I initially thought the pads on one wheel clicked as they grabbed but am now unsure as I can feel the click through the gear selector. When the brakes are applied does a solenoid or switch activate or deactivate something in the gearbox, should I be worried? 2003 TD6 2007 TDV8 VSE

There is a solenoid on the gear selector. It activates when you push the brake and allows the gear knob to be put into park, or more correctly prevents it from being put into park without your foot on the brake. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

This is normal.

Although not very loud a noise, It can be felt through the gear selector at very slow speed or when stationary when brakes are applied and when brake pedal is released.
You will also notice that you cannot select D from N while stationary or very slowly moving, without applying the brakes even slightly. When the car is moving at some speed though, you can freely select back and forth between D, N and D again.
You would have noticed early on if you were used to resting your hand on the selector from years of driving a manual shift...
