Alfa Romeo Giulietta

I am considering changing one of my vehicles, replacing it with a Alfa Romeo Giulietta circa. 11/12 plate. In have no experience of modern Alfa's just the older classics. Any advice or experiences would be most welcome.

You don't fancy a Brera ? I think they are a good looking vehicle...

The Brera was on my radar initially, as I do like the looks. However, my wish is to reduce my motoring costs overall. Many thanks.

If you want to reduce your costs then an Alfa wouldn't be on my shopping list, even a late one, mind you, probably better than a fatty... Whistle Pete

Having had a number of Alfas over the years I can say I have been lucky, never had any real issues. With the Fatty though it has been a little different, I knew when I purchased it ownership was not going to be painless, having worked for LR for 7 years. But as I now have another 4WD to use when I need one, it is time for it to find a new home.

They say you’re not a proper petrol head until you’ve owned an Alfa. I’ve never owned an Alfa. But I did own a 1978 Fiat 131 Supermirafiori twin cam. Not exactly the fastest of machines but had great character for a box, and somehow I managed to snap the rear anti roll bar during a fast A road overtake.

Anyhow, this guy from High Peak Autos (worth subscribing to, I have found) has something to say about the Alfa:

ilard. I agree, I have had five Alfas and loved them all. I remember josteling with a 131 Supermirafiori during a race at Brands Hatch in the mid 80s. My Capri was great on the straight but less so in the corners, especially Druids. I will check out the link. Many thanks.

Sorry to go off topic, re the initial question BUT I had a 131 Sport in bright orange when I was 17 , loved it , then had an alfasud sprint which rusted away , then a 3.0s Capri followed by an RS2000 with a 2.1 bda. The alfa handled well, the capri was a drift machine , the Fiat sounded superb and the RS was a weapon for those days. Then Gtis cossies and scoobys and then I got old 😀

I had a 1.4TB multi air 170bhp veloce. It had 130k on it and still went like a rocket in dynamic mode

Had its electrical quirks mainly rear wiper did it's on thing. The harness to tailgate gets damaged.

Sold my 2011 for £1500 recently. Cheap and very fun motoring. 2011 4.4tdv8 Vogue

Make sure it has been serviced properly. The multiair use specific oil and if that hasn't been used it is a new unit quite quickly. I think it ticks very loudly if knackered. Maybe do a search as I cannot remember symptoms. 2011 4.4tdv8 Vogue
