My first attempt at detailing, very pleased with the result. Just got to keep the birds off now!

I bought her 18 months ago and it's my first FFRR (2010 Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8), owned a Disco3 a few years ago, but this is a class apart! Excellent service record, 43,000 miles and not a blemish inside or out. It took me 8 months and many miles of driving round the country to find one in such good condition, but so far worth all the effort. Replaced a leaking fuel hose, new battery and new fluids. Other than that no problems at all.

The plan is to retire soon and do lots of travelling round the UK and Europe with a large caravan in tow. If I time it right I'll retire just as lockdown finishes and then it's the open road for me, the FFRR and caravan, oh and the wife as well

Things have moved on tremendously since the days of simoniz yellow tins etc. I still can't get my head round that "detailing" is now a job. I used to work in the motor trade and car cleaning was just something you did at the weekend let alone pay big sums for "correction"

There's a lot of thought regards protecting the wax coat with a sealant. Some folk swear by them, others don't as they feel it degrades the wax coat. In detailing land there are enormous debates for and against this. It's simply a barrier coat to the wax.

I do use it as i can't help myself and have sweet fa to do anyway..

Oh and get some trim restrorer for the Black trims on the a,b & c pillars

Sealant?. Normally I just polish then wax which gives great results. Can you give us some pointers.......

I went for the full Meguiar's shareholder option and the Black Plastic Restorer is on order to complete the set. I decided against the Meguiar's clay bar because the Bilt Hamber had excellent reviews and only required water for lubrication. First time I've used a clay bar so I'm no expert, but it certainly did the job. The Meguiar's Compound did a great job removing a couple of small surface scratches. I also used it on my wife's MX5 Mk IV to remove some scratches. That earned me some brownie points!

The wifes car, I havnt actually given it a proper detail for months but when I do its washed, polished waxed n sealed. I did give it a quick snow foam 5 days or so ago so today it got a very quick once over with home made quick detailer spray on the body work and my own diy plastic restorer.

Not the best picture but it gives you and idea if you use proper stuff the intermediate clean only takes 15 mins or so.

I use a G3 Pro 7191 deep clean clay mitt. Very easy with plenty of lube.
