Finally, the Spring Clean :-)

Most of you will know how I love my cleaning routine and spending hours and hours on the car.

This one has had much less regular attention than previous cars due to amount of disposable time, but today finally I got a window of opportunity to do the paintwork

In brief (as I've chronicled this before now)

1. Wash and dry
2. De-Tar treatment all over
3. Clay Bar process
4. Paint scrub with DA Polisher
5. Paint Polish with DA
6. Paint wax with AutoGlym HD Wax (a new experiment for me)

The results are very very good again, i liked using the HD Wax, but you need to keep re-wetting the sponge.

Some pictures (I hope!)

Looking good mate Thumbs Up
I really want to do mine, gave a quick wash today but just didn't have time for the full works. It needs it big time, swirls and little scratches everywhere Sad
How long did it take you?? FFRR TD6 HSE

Looks great, the HD wax is a quality product. Make sure you only apply a very thin layer

Agreed, looks great. What's the secret to success with using the DA?
I am too nervous to use one for fear of screwing things up, my car already has swirls visible in bright light (despite my obsessive cleaning routine - damn that dealers valet) Gerry

In all the work took the day, in-between work stuff.

The DA is easy to use, because its a random orbital polisher its hard to go wrong, the only thing you can mess up is the amount of product you use, normally too much is the wrong amount.

If you read the thread from this time last year called "Serious Elbow Grease" the clay bar produced loads of much, this year not much came off, which tells me the paint is in much better condition.

This pleases me Very Happy

Thanks for the comments. I just LOVE my Range Rover. Can't wait to drive to the far north coast of Scotland on Saturday. Oh yes, bring it on. Discovery 4 HSE

Great results Adam.

Mine is in getting done by a local company at the moment. It's in for the 5 day paint correction due to the previous owners years of poor washing technique and cheap car washes Big Cry

Also have to give it to Mick - bloody brilliant Avatar Thumbs Up

Depends on your experience level.

Dual action is safest but also slowest. Rotary is faster but it is possible to damage stuff if you're careless.

I use both but the Makita rotary is my weapon of choice. The DA comes out for cars which have softer paints and some delicate plastics,
