Trying to move car with brake fault, gearbox locked in park?

Have a brake fault on my L322, (along with a few other faults) trying to tow it into shed to work on it. About 30m in total, but gearbox locked in park.
Is there a way to over-ride the lock and move it into neutral?
Have tried search, but obviously not finding the correct search terms.

Remove gear stick surround, just pulls off. Then you'll see the mechanical arm that locks it in park. Move lever up to allow you to select neutral. 2006 4.2 SC
