Outdoor Car Cover Recommendation

Hope everyone is okay in these terrible times.

Rather than letting my Rangie sit and deteriorate, I'm thinking about getting an outdoor car cover for it. Has anyone got one for their L405 and has anyone got any recommendations? 2017 Range Rover Vogue V6 Diesel

A Trap

Don’t, any dirt and or wind will make the cover rub through the paint on corners of the bumpers, roof, bonnet etc. I know from bitter experience.... twice.

Curiously, have been thinking the same for the other car. Next door neighbour burned some cack last week, then it rained and I could not get the debris off the car with a wash, clay bar got most off, ended up machine polishing it. You have to watch with covers as they can easily damage paint too. Don't think cheap ones are worthwhile.

Put a sun shade in the front windscreen to protect the dash and trim from the sun.

Yes, I was wondering about that..at the moment I'm getting dirt and then overnight droplets of rain causing water marks all over my black paint! 2017 Range Rover Vogue V6 Diesel

If you have the space, one of these is a useful bit of kit and can be folded up when not needed, again if you have the space.

+1 - and it was used right after the RR came back from a 3 days polish and ceramic coating... Big Cry l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

Do you have any option of a permanent car port type thing ?

The tent is better than a cover, but will need fastening down - and I still wouldn't fancy one on a very windy day.....

If you do use a soft microfibre style indoor one underneath to stop the exterior cover chuffing up the paint Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

Thanks for the tips guys. I like the machinemart tent idea but the Mrs would moan about it next to the house and I have the other car in the garage and the Rangie won't fit (length wise anyway!).

We live quite close to the sea and it does get windy so I can see how the cover could cause abrasion on the paint. The microfibre layer underneath sounds like a good idea. I would only ever put the cover on if the car had been freshly cleaned. 2017 Range Rover Vogue V6 Diesel

A Trap

My last cover has a microfiber liner with a waterproof shell, it was expensive! I only ever fitted it after cleaning the car, it still rubbed through the clear coat on the roof and bumper corners.... It wasn’t used that often before I spotted the damage either, less than 6 months after buying and probably used a couple of months of that time, during our rainy session here.

I would suggest saving your money to use on another detail when required.

You can buy Machine Mart “tent garages” in various lengths and there’s one that a FFRR will fit into.

I’d give it a good clean and then wax it. A good covering of wax will afford it a decent level of protection and allow for easy rinsing off of any dust, bird droppings etc.

I have one of these tents in case I ever need to do a prolonged job!! They are great and fit the full fat in a treat, but are a Censored to put up and down unless there are 2 people + and boy does the wind get them, so wouldn't fancy leaving it up long term.

I’ve seen one in use to cover a crashed D3 that was being stripped for parts. I think it was bolted down. 👍
