went to use my sprinter jack today after nearly a year of non-use and it was going down half as much as I was pumping up. Valve was locked closed hard hard and then I noticed some oil coming ou from around the main piston.

I got it up enough for the second piston to come up but I could not get the wheel off the ground.

Presumably I need oil and o-rings?

Any tips would be appreciated.

I'd just buy a new bottle jack from SGS. They're cheaper than people want for a second hand merc one.

Not sure its advisable to disassemble a lifting device. Risk is just too great IMO. Christian.

thanks but I don't think that has enough lift. Sprinter jacks have a two section piston

So I tried it again today after watching a few YouTubes

I gave it an "air bleed" and it seems better but I suspect it's low on fluid as it won't extend fully. But it is now holding load and not slowly dropping.

I have ordered some bottle jack fluid so I will do a fluid change, re-bleed it and see how it goes.

It didn't leak today either and I just and I mean just got the car high enough to get the wheel off. Axle stands went immediately underneath too.

Mine like many has had a aluminium block fitted which works a bloody treat so I would rather get this one running since I spent a good few hours fabricating the ally block.

Or get a replacement Sprinter. Cheers, Greg

I've got the opposite problem with mine - it won't stay fully home and starts to rise all by itself
