Just for info, I have the same issue as you, if you can call it an issue. I came from a 2009 TDV8 none adaptive dynamics version to the 2015 SDV8 A/B. The old one was definitely a softer ride and rode the potholes better, but the A/B is a world away when you chuck it round bends, it stays flat with very little role, overall drives much better, but does thump over the pot holes which appear to be getting worse in the Manchester area. Interesting to see some comments about tyres and also tram-lining, I have 21' scorpion verdes on and thinking of something different when they're due a change next year as mine tends to tramline too.

That seems to be what I’m experiencing.

Can’t really discern a knock as such, just seems to thump through the potholes,
More noticeable at low speed, give it a bit of welly down a country lane and it seems fine.

Agree completely with the fact it handles much better than the 322. For a big car it’s quite chuckable down the road to our village. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Have ordered some bits, ARB bushes and Drop links. See how that goes.....

On another note, I’m assuming that the 405 is a monocoque in the strictest sense of the word, not like the 322 which has front and rear subframes, I’ve had a crawl about under it and can’t see any!! I reckon that the car rides how it does due to not having subframes like the 322. There is that extra level of bushing between the subframe and the shell on the 322 which would help cancel out the harshness of the road! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Drop links done. It’s a bit better, waiting for the bolts for to do the ARB bushes.

Still feels like something is knocking on the subframe.

ARB bushes Thursday, bolts arriving tomorrow.

May order some Delphi arms as they aren’t too pricey and look quite easy to swap. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Really loose when I took them off.

ARB bushes are cheap enough and easy so I’ll bang some on as I’ve got nothing else to do....And see what happens. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

So tonight’s swearing was changing the ARB bushes.

It’s in theory not a hard job, and is do-able on the ground wheels on..

First off I put the car in high mode.
Then jacked it a bit more so I could get some stands under the jacking points

Then it’s under tray off - 15mm socket there are 2 hidden ones at the front which need cracking off and removing with fingers.
Put a jack under the ARB to stabilise it.
Undo the 6 bolts holding the brackets
Gently lower the ARB so as not to put strain on the hoses.

Unbolt the bush brackets with an 18mm deep socket.

Re fitting is the reversal.

The torque settings are in the WM in the Wiki. Some of the settings are FT + so many degrees.!

It has definitely improved the situation on a short lockdown test drive!! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

The bushes are LR035489, the droplinks are LR048451 and come with nuts.

You need a set of new bolts for the ARB brackets, this list includes 4 nuts for the drop links but I don’t know which they are without going back on microcat!

You can really tell the difference in feel in the bushes between the old ones and the new ones. You can barely move the bushes on the new ones, the old ones were loose and could easily be moved by hand. When I dropped the ARB, the bushes weren’t sloppy, but you could easily move the brackets round the bar once it was dropped. The new ones were much tighter. So definitely a bit of wear there! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I have been chasing down a bit of a thunk/knock that ours has on the front end, everything looked great and previously reporting it to the main dealer resulting in no fault found.

It got to the point where, it was annoying me. Based on this thread I changed the ARB bushes tonight, I usually don’t like just replacing parts MD style but this had been annoying me. Exactly as you described they looked ok but moved freely on the bar, compared to the tight new ones but I wasn’t convinced it was going to make a difference.

Short test drive and fingers crossed so far it’s transformed!

Top tip and worth a shot given the cost.
