Help Identify High-Pitched Noise (with video)

Hi all,

I just picked up my first L322 - 2007 FFRR Supercharged with 100k miles on the clock. I'm not super familiar with what sounds are normal vs. warning signs. I'm experiencing a high-pitched sound on the highway and at some lower speeds - seems to be coming from the front passenger side/middle. It sounds like chirping or glass bottles lightly clinking together or the sound of a jet engine airplane when it flies by really far away (if you know what I mean). I've read around a little bit and could it be the ECU fan chirping?

That high pitched warble at the start of the clip? Sounds quite like like my mystery noise. Have you turned off the heater fan and AC to rule them out? After that either get a specialist to take a look (which is what I'm doing) or hunt it down yourself (what I tried to do and gave up on) and post up more detail here. Have you had a listen under the bonnet? Likely candidates include something on the accessory belt (tensioner/idler pulleys/various pumps) or believe there is an ECU fan?

As above,
Some damp mornings (the car stands outside), when I start it I get a rhythmic squeaking that speeds up when I rev the engine, after a couple of minutes with the engine warming up it vanishes.
I have put it down to either a dry belt tensioner pulley bearing or a damp aux belt. I guess the bottom line is if the sound speeds up when you rev the engine, it either rotates or moves like a belt.

The method I use to track down noises is:- A 2 foot length of 1/2 plastic tubing, one end by your ear the other end use it like a doctors stethoscope.
NB: Be very careful of moving parts if you attempt it.
One of my friends was poking about with his engine running and lost half a finger (alternator belt), he told me the engine didn't even miss a beat.

Thanks guys - the noise is present with the a/c or heater off. It is present while on and off the throttle and doesn't appear to be linked to throttle position or change with speed of the car except I begin to hear it once I reach about 15-20 mph. The greater the speed the more I hear it but it's not terribly loud. Could it be air noise from pieces of loose trim inside the engine bay? ECU fan? Those are my only two guesses at the moment but I don’t think the ecu fan noise would change with speed of the car and I certainly would hear it while not moving (which I don’t; I only hear it above 15-20mph)
