I am getting back into L322 ownership, I previously had the 4.2SC 2006 spec car and now looking at buying a later 5.0sc.

I have the choice between two cars both great, same price range, same milage range so heres the summary of the cars and heres my questons.

first is MY2010(2009 registered) 5.0sc autobiography in black has the two tone interior black and cream (tan), 110,000 miles.

second is 2011 5.0sc autobiography in black with all black interior and 115,000 miles.

Question is is there a lot of difference between 2009 / 2011 models what would you all do.

Couple of other notes car 2 has a towbar which I want factory fitted and car 2 has the all black interior which is my preference. Car 1 has lower miles but not a lot. Other confusing thing is car 2 was registered in manchester then was in Nortern Island for 5 years.

Help me make a choice, tomorrow I will be picking up one of these 2 cars.

The 2010 (and 2011/2012) was the last real upgrade, as far as I'm aware. From the 2009 to the 2010 there was quite a bit of work done, interior and exterior. Also the engine went from the 4.2 SC to the 5.0 SC. I have a 2010.75 model year 5.0 SC and did want to have one up from my old 2006 SC.

I liked all the upgrade work that had been done and still think it is a good upgrade and worth forking out a bit more. Between 2010 and 2011, I don't think there is any difference and in 2012 they had a special end of production run model but I believe that is mostly cosmetic.

Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Thanks they are both the 5.0sc the first is a 2009 but MY10 so very early one, the seocnd is registered in mid 2011 has as far as i can see extra couple of terrain response modes.

Yes but turns out car 2 is classed as an import as it has spent some time in Ireland so the insurance is twice the price.

If it helps, I'd argue the towbar and colour combo you prefer are powerful reasons. Ins costs are annoying but boring. In fact I'm surprised there's any difference. I imported a car from Jersey in 2003 (still got it) and its never had any impact on premium as far as I know. Have you done the meerkat thing? No material difference between 110k and 115k - much more important if there is any service history documentation and the look of the MOT history online. Mike - MPx

Good points car 1 has mot until June and full history. Car 2 has brand new mot and full history.

Did the meerkat, maybe it’s the year that’s making the difference in insurance cost. But it’s 55% difference in insurance.

go for the one that's had it's timing chain guides done.

how do i check the guides?

I'm not too sure on this as I have 4.4TDV8
But I have read it's essential after xx miles.
Expensive job too, so you'll want to know it's been done.

If it were me i would go for Car 2, what extras do they have?

The ones i would be wanting if it were me are;

Harman Kardon 1200 watt HD hifi
Electric rear seats go for that
All round cameras
Black leather headlining
4 zone climate
Full service history

Car 2 has the KH audio system neither of them have around camera, but personally not bothered by that, both have full history.

Also now discovered car 2 has steering wheel paddels, not sure if i will ever use these but cool gadget.

So i went for car 2 in the end, picked it up today a few things to fix so got some money off but nothing serious I hope, got some interesting audio codes on my ID tool that I need to look into.
