Just had this situation yesterday, driving from Bolventor (Jamaica Inn, Bodmin Moor) along their Valley to Goliaths Falls.

Surely if the l322 can wade to 700mm then any flooded road etc thats not 700mm would be fine? Regards

Without wading it first, how do you know it’s 700mm?

...and silly as it sounds it can be difficult to know exactly where the road goes and you don't want to be putting a wheel on a submerged verge (or worse). Mike - MPx

Drain covers and manhole covers have a habit of being pushed up by water pressure. Don't want to put a wheel down one of those. I wouldn't put my old D1, that had a raised air intake and raised breathers, through unless I checked first. One washed away culvert and game over!

Where’s that clip of the Discovery 5 with a Discovery II on a trailer, both being washed away? |

I was looking for that earlier. As soon as the D5 started to float, it was off with the force of the river. |

What happens when you meet a nutter coming the other way, one that hits you with an engine drowning bow wave in the deepest section? How do you know where the ditches are if you need to get past a flooded and abandoned car or van? Without being able to see the other end and you hit an obstruction, would you reverse all the way back, or attempt a 3 point point and hope you don’t find a drainage ditch? |
