OIL CHANGE ON TD6 TRANSMISSION

Just changed the oil in my auto-box .As it had done 127k on original oil Ithought it best to do Wink
Took a short trip in the car to warm the box up and then drained the old black oil into a container - yep - it came out nearly black Shocked
Removed the sump and removed old filter and gasket and fitted new (£66 off Ebay).Cleaned/wiped sump and magnet - hardly anything so I think i've caught the box intime Wink
Refitted the sump and then measured what came out - just over 6 1/2 litres.
Got my garden pressurised weed killer spray unit and cleaned out thoroughly and dried.Commenced to fill it with 6 1/2 litres of fresh oil - pressurised and then commenced filling Wink
When 3 litres had gone in it started to flow out of the filler hole so I started the engine and cycled through the gears before finally leaving it in neutral with the engine running. It then took the remaining 3 1/2 litres and at the very last drop started to trickle out of the filler hole - plug refitted and job done - time= @1 hour : Wink
I purchased my oil from Watsons as suggested by another forum member and as it's 20 litres will drop the oil after 3k and refill again - just to be sure Wink

Yes - I read the comments and based it upon my reasoning that if there's particles etc suspended in the fluid there would be some in the filter - the last thing I want is new fluid washing/picking up old 'bits' from the filter. Rolling Eyes
Anyway .... been out for a 30 miles test ride and even though it was smooth before - its even smoother now Wink
Maybe my box has lasted longer as it's never towed anything There is no towbar frame fitted to the car to attatch a towbar to so pretty concusive on that score Wink
