Rear Wiper Turn Off?

A trivial question hopefully...

How do you turn off the rear wiper?

The Owners Manual says "Push the lever forward to the first position to operate, the wiper operates intermittently until switched off. "

But does not describe how exactly to perform that "switch off", so the only way I can stop it scraping across the dry rear glass is to disconnect the s****g battery Shocked "Gloria" 2002 L322 Voguish V8 LPG - carcass

Pull the stalk back to its normal position. To activate the wiper, you push the stalk forward and leave it there....ie let go of it.

Just pull it back to original position. If you push forwards past the activation position and hold (as it won’t stay there on it’s own) it squirts the water down the back window, till you let go. It will then stay in activated position till you pull it back again to normal position.

If that makes any sense?

Thanks I'll give that a go Smile

I thought I had tried that combo but maybe being too aggressive so end up overshooting and squirting the front screen instead "Gloria" 2002 L322 Voguish V8 LPG - carcass

So stalk has 4 positions, but will only stay in 2....

1 Pulled towards you, washes windscreen, won’t stay in this position. You hold against a spring.
2 Normal position
3 pushed forward one from normal, rear wiper wipes intermittently
4 Pushed fully away from you, water squirts on rear screen. won’t stay in this position. You hold against a spring. It returns to position 3 when you let go, so you have to move it to normal position 2 if you want the rear wiper off

That seems to work, there is no tactile feedback from the stalk when moving from position 3 to 2, perhaps due to wear and tear removing some knobbly internal of the switch mechanism.

Anyhow, thanks everyone Very Happy "Gloria" 2002 L322 Voguish V8 LPG - carcass
