So I purchased a replacement key of flea bay
The plan was to put my chip in the new key then try to program the my old key with the new chip
Didn't quite work out
Got the new key working but the chip swop went wrong the new key chip was glued in so it broke coming out
Next plan is to get another id46 chip and try to program my old key !
But the flea bay key is very well made it feels solid and weighty so I am pondering as to getting another new key and trying that route. The other problem is the transponders themselves yes you can get them but as yet not one that matches mine

Mines Pcf7936as. I can match this but the next 2 lines I can't

Dn06370. No match
I wonder if my chip has been superseded by the ones on sale now . The experiment continues
Cost so far new key and cutting £47 , expected new cost - new chip ( if I can get it to program in ) £5 , or another key and cutting £47 so it could be either £52 for 1 old + 1 new or £94 for 2 new keys I'll keep this thread posted on my results success or failure.
So far I have a new key working and now a spare key with no chip better than only one key but not as good as 2 working keys

I went down a similar route with some nice looking keys off eBay that promised to work and I even paid a King's ransom to have my original transponder cloned onto one of the new keys. It worked once, but no more - I now understand that the original key has a rolling code in the transponder which these eBay keys / transponders are incapable of dealing with.

In the end I got a refund for both the keys and the programming work and ordered a genuine item from Dan at Duckworths. It came correctly cut and already coded for my vehicle - definitely worth the extra cost given the hassle I was otherwise having.

If you can get an original spec transponder (maybe even from an old L322 key) I'm sure you will have success, but the only firm that I found able to supply the correct item was trade only and wouldn't supply direct. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDv8

Also gone down this route, Had the key cut & reprogrammed. Would unlock & lock, but would not start the car.

Removed the vehicles transponder to enable reprogramming, but still no luck, gave up in the end.

One thing that would annoy me if I had been successful, is that the key sits higher up than the original key & you catch it when changing gear. No problem if the ignition switch is higher up in the dash though.

Odd. I made several new keys for my 2002 with an eBay AK90+ programmer and eBay keys and chips. Been in daily use for six months without problem.

We are talking about the 07/09 variant which I think has rolling codes

07/09 completely different to 02/04 -- not able to programme it with the AK90+ -- you need CN3 chips and a different box ! Current: 2011 FFRR Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

My mistake. Saw the 3 button key and assumed it was the BMW based system.
