Remap options.. map or tuning box advice?

Hi Folks,

Recently got myself a 3.6 TDV8 VSE.. looking to tune it, I had a couple of these mapped before with great results.

Looking around, there are tuning box devices available that cost considerably less than a remap. Are they worth having or is a proper map better?

Thanks for any pointers.. 2010 FF 4.4 TDV8 Vogue - Gone

I would go for a remap personally, most are done by people with experience that should check your vehicle for an issues before they upload the new map. The 3.6 flies after a remap Thumbs Up 2015 4.4 AB

3.6 can be done via OBD but when I had my 4.4 done , the ECU had to be opened and surgery performed Thumbs Up 2015 4.4 AB

Hi all,

I have just had a remap done to my 4.4TDV8. Literally ! The guy has just left my house.

Had it done by DMS, they are based in Southampton but came to my house in Suffolk, he is off to Chelmsford now.....

Took him about an hour as the ECU had to come out. If my car was an earlier one it can be done via the OBD port.

First impressions are very good, seems much smoother and mid range has gone from very good to OH WOW!

want to take it out on a long run now but SHMBO has a list of chores for me to have finished before she comes home !!

Oh, and P.S

The EGR valves haven't been fiddled with either electronically or mechanically.......

Andy

Oooh-Kay that’s certainly more than I thought you were going to say...

So surely your wife needs you to go pick something up a bit of a drive away...?

Enjoy! Cheers, Greg

Umm not sure !

The figures they gave me are imperial !!
Here is a copy and paste of some of what they said to me .....

“We are able to remap the ECU the 4.4 TDV8 taking the power from 330bhp up to 395bhp, the torque raises phenomenally from 516lb.ft up to 598lb.ft, this is what creates the most dramatic aspect of the transformation, with a much wider power band it feels effortless to accelerate. You will also see a 5mpg improvement. The original outlay for this remap was £950+vat, I can now offer this at £650+vat.”
