Need some kinda USB power hub

Hi guys,

With two dash cams, my iPhone, wife's iPhone, daughters iPhone, iPad etc etc I need ideally a six or more outlet USB hub. something-or-other.

Needs 2.1 amp (i.e. fast charging) per USB. I guess that is at least 12amps @5 volts (is that right, do I add the amps?)

The most powerful cigarette lighter I can see so far is something like this:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TeckNet-Multi-4...Swq5dcnIhX

....which is a four outlet 9.6A total.

I know I could get two of these btw, and that might be the best ideas, spreading the draw load over two cigarette outlets. I currently have one hidden under the centre console so I can add another.

Would like something a bit more, well professional really. Something wired into the 12v (fused of course).

Any ideas?
What does everyone else do in this USB age?

. Cheers, Greg

Don’t forget your 2 lighter points in the back for the kids, Double USB in one of those should take care of the iPads etc.
Wire the Dash cams into the fuse boxes on piggyback fuses
Then put a double charger into the centre cubby with 2 wires to plug into. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Thanks Mark, rear cig sockets - trying to keep free for a clean look.
Dash cams are USB so can't easily run them off a piggyback in the fusebox.

There's a lot of room under the centre console if you remove the lower rear facing cover.
That's where I currently have an extra , fused cig socket and a 4 x USB. But it's not powerful enough to run everything, nor enough outlets.

. Cheers, Greg

Why not swap all the cigarette sockets for twin USB sockets?? Keep your clean look and apart from a cig lighter I can't think of any modern use for the factory sockets anyway.

Various versions availabe, linky for reference.

Thing is three cables for the dash cams etc run into the under-console area.
Connecting 'above deck' would mean they're visible albeit short.
I'd rather go 'below deck' and hide away the cables.

Then I'll leave a cig-USB converter in the visible plugs for whatever else that crops up.

. Cheers, Greg

I used one of these for my dash cam off a piggy back fuse holder. Would allow you to keep it all hidden and very compact.

For the rear, I added some extra trailing cig lighter sockets in the boot side panel electrics are, then ran the phone charger cables into the cubby in the arm rest in the rear seat - just tucked away nothing dismantled.

Didn't know about those step down transformers, thanks!

So I am thinking about getting a bigger one, 10a or 15a something like this:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400W-15A-DC-DC-...Sw45VdXnjk

Then attaching this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/7-Port-USB-Hub-...4902.l9144

I like this one with the switches.

. Cheers, Greg

I bought this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/7-Port-USB-Hub-...4902.l9144

But it can't handle many amps.

But I think this is better:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Aikenuo-Chargers-...1578818603

There are others similar, but this is highest amps/watts.

No idea why I couldn't find in the beginning.

. Cheers, Greg
