Dpf to red again (go to dealer) no faults!!

Following my successful resolution of the dpf full/ red warning appearing a while ago, car has been behaved faultlessly with daily 50 mile motorway trips. Dpf was sitting around 20g (following Posts on here not a worry).

However returning from London the other night I got restricted performance and red dpf (dealer!!) warning. IID said level of 27.7g. Luckily it was only 10 miles from home and although I stopped and used my IID to reset, fault remained and I limped home.

No faults!! IID revealed nothing. I removed and cleaned the MAP which was Jammed full of crud.

Then took it for a drive for over 5 miles at 40 mph. Only once did the exhaust temp rise but no regen occurred. Dpf now reading 29g.

How many miles has your car done Dolphin?

I think it's odd that you say it's normally sitting around 20g.

What's the lowest grams you've had?

. Cheers, Greg

99,900 miles.

It’s been lower most of the time (11.9) but doesn’t seem to regen. This could be the egr temp sensor being at fault (have just read your series of posts from 2018) or the throttle body butterfly sticking (again as per your threads), but no faults at all are showing?!

Interestingly my fuel in oil contamination reading is now 2 point stg. And was 8 before I had my oil changed.

at 400-odd it is doing a light regen...

reason I asked about miles is because I know you've had issues earlier, and that you are not getting effective regenerations. which should take you down below 5grams. So I'm wondering if you have ash build up. Ash won't disintegrate like soot and does eventually build up inside the DPF.

It might explain why mine, now at 120k miles and in constant city use, is regenerating very consistently having had the whole DPF removed and machine-leaned at around 110k miles (see my DPF guide). If you go for this be aware there are a lot of charlatan on-car crowds offering DPF cleaning but it's not how it should be done. So pls make sure its cleaned using a 'flash' type machine off the car.

One way to get an idea of your dpf's health is the pressure differential voltage.

0.7 is normal
1.0 is high but ok as long as it comes back to 0.7 after a regen
1.3-1.5 when accelerating -

This might give you an idea whether to consider having it removed.

I also wonder about the IID clearing the red's you've been having. I do remember us discussing the IID now removing red DPF warnings which does seen like a new feature but what you need is a forced regen immediately following clearing the red and I don't think the IID does that.

I bought a DA-DPF tool which has been really good, it does trigger a forced regen when yo need it.

I'd be considering finding a 'flash' cleaning place in your area as next step.

. Cheers, Greg

Start with the basics....
It’s most likely to be a split in the air intake somewhere.
Get some clean white kitchen roll and carefully wipe around all 4 hoses and the plenum ., looking for any sign of black oily soot leaks.

Have you checked for fault codes James? Any engine codes?

Have done a check if the plenum pipes and no soot apparent.

Craig, no faults at all 😳
