Am I right in thinking this can’t be done anymore due to data protections?

I always pass on invoices for work done etc when I sell my cars, so the next owner tends to have my name and address somewhere, if not even my phone number.

A few years back for £5 (yes five pounds) you were entitled with fair reason to request all information DVLA held about your vehicle. I requested this on a couple of cars and the information was very comprehensive, including owners and details on registration number changes. On one old 911 they even dug out ancient microfilm info. How on earth £5 covered that amount of work I never figured out. Last time I used the service was around 2007 for a different 911 which I still own and and it forms a very credible part of the cars provenance. I haven't checked, but with data protection and so on now, I very much doubt this service is still available. |
