FOUND REASON!Smoke from left hand side and fumes in cabin???

So land rover when looking for my coolant leak which never was, took apart the egr system and when refitted the tube they crushed the flange which resukted in exhaust fumes leaking but only noticable when hititng the throttle hard..

Just had a little fright. I started smelling diesel fumes in the cabin and then I noticed smoke coming from under the bonnet where the battery is located. After a few mins it stopped and when I had a chance I pulled over and checked under the bonnet. I can’t see anything obvious but WTF????

This was 25 mins into a drive.

I did give the car a good blast through a couple of gears. Full rev range. Not sure if that would have caused anything. Regards

Not sure really, but the fuel burning heater is under where the battery is, under the wheel arch and it has its exhaust there too. You prob know that already......and I’m not sure it would still be running that long after startup, so may be a red herring...... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Wonder why the fbh would kick in or still run after that time. Engine was well up to temp.

Only thing was a couple of times the temp dropped to 4 when the ice icon appeared on the dash? Regards

Anyone else ever experienced this.

It seemed fine on the way home. Just like to understand what the heck happened. Regards

Cheers matty.

No adverse effects from this? Your fbh works ok?

I’ve done a few miles since yesterday and repeat smoke or smell. Regards

Egr tube joe.

Land Rover tech has crushed the flange by not seating the clamp correctly. After some hard throttle it smokes and fumes into the cabin.

That’s is one serious safety issue that I would play merry hell over! Diesel fumes in the car is a big no no.
I would be asking for a new part and fit it myself. Not the Censored monkeys at the main dealer Whistle Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"
