GAP questions

Hi all,

Does anyone know if you can use GAP tool to
set the time/date?
Turn on park heating?

Currently my infotainment system is just a big dead weight as its packed up & following a battery reset the time / date is wrong.
Also can't access it to turn on the park heat & don't have a remote..

Thanks

Try a battery re-set.
Disconnect both battery leads, then short them together for a minute or so.
Re- connect and hopefully it will jump into life again.

Various threads on here about the ingress of water to the nearside cubby in the load space that allows corrosion on the connectors and in the units. The BT module is apparently prone to give faullts and there is a by-pass method somewhere about the fibre optic cable failing and a temporary fix.

And of course the battery can give faults if the voltage is to low. There was also a thread on the TFT screen not lighting up in the cold IIRC.

A few places to begin, have a search about.

Hope this helps. Cheers
Richard

There's a second hand unit in the classifieds that may be of use to you?

Thanks ruff,
I don't think I have water ingress I check it every so often & its bone dry, I also have loads of silica gel packs into the cubby.

Although when I bought it 3 years ago I had a water issue in a module I but put that down to condensation whilst it stood for sale as its never been wet since. That's when I added the silica packs.

I did notice that just 1 pin had some furring on the BT module, cleaned it off with contact cleaner. Ill take module out & see if I can inspect it.

Iid tool is showing fault B12FE-13 (2Cool fan general electrical faliure so it may be the unit its self, so I'll look into the classifieds thanks daveparse.

Checked Gap site & looks like I can turn on park heat with IId tool so once it's back from service & I have 10 mins I'll have a play.

As for the time / date, it's still 2009 Confused

This may be a longshot..but, check the fuse in the main fusebox for the TMC Module as it may have blown and screwed up the whole infotainment system.
I accidentally caused a blowup of my system by shorting the wiring to the TMC Module when I caught the connectors on the chassis/bodywork whilst doing some work in the rear cubby. The whole infotainment system seemed to die and I thought Censored Censored 'what have I done?'. Checked the fuse for the TMC in the main fusebox and it had blown, replaced the fuse and it all came back to life...'good as new'.
As I say, it's a long shot, but worth checking. Thumbs Up

There is a reference to a fan fault on one thread somewhere on here, and I don't think it's your question in October. The fault code shows to check the wiring to the unit for a ground/wiring fault, and maybe as Discotigger says a fuse has gone. The circuit diagram is in the WM under

electrical/electrical diagrams/message centre

and shows the supply from Fuse 61P junction box central

ISTR that the fan is a bit of a job to get to, a sort of dash dismantle Sad Cheers
