2006 Range Rover Vogue SE Td6 Buckingham Blue

Preparing to change battery

Dear Forum
I am preparing to change the battery on our 2006 TD6 L322 Vogue SE. I have read the wiki in detail but have also seen a number of tales of woe on the forum following other battery change attempts, mainly revolving around the need to reset various of the RR computers. So can I ask for some advice as to the painless way of getting this done?
In addition to following the wiki should I:
1. Touch the disconnected terminals together to reset the ECUs before fitting new battery?
2. Do I have to carry out the battery replacement reset in the “Body control menu” section of my iid?
3. Is there a way of getting the bonnet fully open past the standard 40 degrees to make it easier to get batteries in and out?

Change done last weekend with no drama. Nothing needed to be reset on my 2006 model save turning the steering wheel a few times for headlight adjustment.

So it would appear I have messed up! Didn't realise there was a procedure to replacing the battery and now the car wont start! Is it a case of needing the tool to inform battery change has been completed or am I in dire straits now?

make sure that the battery is indeed fully charged and check all the connections and that you have connected all the wires..... ... - .- -.
