Winter wiper setting

Fumbled across this setting the other day when playing with the infotainment menu. When activated, the wipers come to rest about a quarter of the way up the front windscreen as opposed to the usual coming to rest out of sight under the bonnet scuttle. Why's that then?

Thanks Thumbs Up

When you park somewhere that it may snow or the wipers may freeze to the screen you are able to lift them clear of the screen when parked up.
I always do this when parking up in a ski resort, I know we have plenty of snow when I cant see them poking out. letters not necessarily in the right order
