Left Turbo failed and cylinder 8 injector

Hi Guys

I need some advice. My 2007 3.6 V8 RR Vogue is in the garage with a left turbo failure, injector and egr valve replacement. I have been told it is £4000.

My indi said he will replace both Turbos and will not touch recon turbos and I will have to take car somewhere else. I don't have £4k lying around.

Any Ideas where I can get this done cheaply but properly. I have been quoted £2k from a turbo recon garage.

Help please as I really love the car. Car is in Wolverhampton at the moment but I can get it delivered to a place u guys recommend

regards

ifty

Your indy is correct. Recon turbos are very hit and miss when it comes to setting up the actuator. Just 1mm in either direction will cause problems, and it snot an easy job to access and move them

FWIW, I will only entertain fitting brand new OEM turbos...

He did recommend if I wanted to go down the recon route then to try Telford turbos. Have you guys had any experience with them or do I have to get new ones.

Just from my own experience ( certainly not an expert), i had 2 recon turbos fitted to my 2007 3.6 TDV8 at 180k kilometres , then had remap and part exed it at around 260k kilometres ( its still.going strong). 2015 4.4 AB

Is fitting turbos a hard job as YouTube videos say the body has to be separated from the chassis

Thats for the sport. People on here have done them themselves but when my indie did mine he dropped the engine. 2015 4.4 AB

My understanding is that it is really not feasible to replace LH turbo without dropping whole engine/gearbox/transfer box assembly on subframe out of the bottom of the car. RH one I believe can be done in situ but it is time consuming and awkward.
Neither is really a DIY option without a vehicle lift and very good toolkit and skills.
What are your car symptoms, are you sure the turbo has gone? Previously a 2008MY Tonga Green Vogue SE 3.6 TDV8

That’s what my Indi is saying. Lots of smoke from left exhaust which clears after engine is warm unless you rev it and it says engine system fault. I know one injector is defo gone and he said egr valve needs replacing

I would start with getting injector and EGR replaced then see. Much simpler jobs. Turbo faults with 'lots of smoke' due to failed seals don't usually stop when engine warms up . Did it happen suddenly? Can you get the fault codes read and post them on here. Previously a 2008MY Tonga Green Vogue SE 3.6 TDV8

I've replaced TDV8 turbos at the roadside. It is a very time consuming, and fiddly job, but doable
