So my restricted performance woes continue.
I took the tin tent to Dorset last week and it faulted 6 times on the way down. Mainly on hills but it did fault twice whilst cruising at 55 on the flat. I pulled onto the services and let it rest at one point and as soon as I pulled into the slip road to rejoin the motorway, it bonged again!

On the way back, I used manual and it didn’t fault for the first 33 miles inc hills out of Dorset through Chideock towards Charmouth. In fact the 33 mile point was just short of getting onto the M5. I managed to reset it at the red traffic Lights before getting on the M5 and I did another 80 miles before it bonged again, on a level section of motorway.

A second reset got me the rest of the way home.
Chatting to someone the suggestion was to remove the map and re- install the factory map. I’m very tempted to do this but what if the map isn’t at fault and I lose the remap? I’m not sure who’s map it is as it was on the car when I bought it and the chap I bought if from said he hadn’t done it.

There is so much inconsistency with this fault. One day it will fly up a hill with no faults , the next it will fault on the same hill.

The strange thing is, when the car goes into restricted mode, it doesn’t really slow down. It’s only noticeable when going up a hill.

You need to see what the fault codes are showing  Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where,s the f**king ceiling!!

i'd check them hoses!!....

also it could be an intermittent fuel pump fault.. ... - .- -.

Have you checked the map sensor to see if it’s clogged up ? And as Stan says check your inter cooler hoses  Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky and I thought to myself, where,s the f**king ceiling!!

Hoses were fine but I replaced them with silicone when I found out about the remap.

MAP sensors have been cleaned and swapped around and the fault still lies on Bank A.

Smoke test was done and nothing was found apart from a hole in the air intake to L/H turbo pipe which I’ve replaced.

Then what have you lost?, you might find that the standard map is better than the remap if you've never driven the car without the map

if its on one bank rather than the other, then it will be something specific to that bank, have a search for the plastic inlet manifold cracks, which are not unknown on the 3.6.

its a while since I saw it but I seem to remember that the rocker cover/inlet manifold can split and cause an intermittent fault. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I’ve checked the manifolds. I’ve sprayed them with soapy water whilst hot and I’ve also done a smoke test on it.

So coming back to removing the map.

I can’t ever recall how a factory standard TDV8 drives. I tested two before buying this one but they were literally a drive around the block not going over 30mph. How are they in terms of power, acceleration and also towing? Will I feel a difference downgrading? 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded

I doubt anyone can give you an answer to that, there are so many variables, what was the map intended to do? who did it? how well was it done? what other issues could the engine have? etc.
Don't know if it helps or not but i've got a 3.6 and 4.4 TDV8 and while the 4.4 engine (and gearbox) is better in so many ways than the 3.6, I am never disappointed with the 3.6. I tow with the 3.6 and have never wished that I was in the 4.4, the 3.6 never feels lacking and I don't drive slowly.

Have you thought about remapping the map?
This way you'd know what you've got, economy or economy/power?
