Decide to change my front nearside wheel today as the outer tread on the tyre is wearing and my spare is in better condition!
So, lift the car to off-road height so as I can use my new Mercedes bottle jack with adaptor! No use, even with the jack fully extended it didn’t lift the car!
What is the correct procedure to use the bottle jack?
I’ll get the garage to change my wheel on Monday

With the car in normal height setting the Sprinter jack easily lifts the car to get front or rear wheels off.

I didn’t realise that there’s a piston inside the piston! So only pumped it to the first stage!!

I had to change a front tyre yesterday after a puncture and had a similar issue! The inner piston appeared to be a bit stuck so it felt as though it had extended as far as it could without lifting the wheel off the ground.

I personally wouldnt trust a bottle jack on the jacking points just not enough base to be 100% sure it cant rock over, just my humble opinion.

I would favour Nino, method but with a block of wood to spread the load on the suspension arm the jack will stay vertical and there is little risk of it tipping and for good measure stick an axel stand under the jacking point.

Better still is get your self a trolley jack and a pair of stands and lift by the chassis rail about a foot inwards to take the weight of the car abd then a bottle jack to lift the wheel. WIth the axel stand as well.

I tend to crack the door open or pull the air suspension fuse 57 i think, this stops the car from trying to self level.
