Irrespective of the wheel type, as you cannot have them diamond finished again, you have two choices:

Powder coating is the way to go, saying it doesn't adhere to the surface is wrong. A demo i have seen may times is with a painted piece of steel and a powder coated one, both are hit with the ball of hammer very hard to create a big indentation. The painted plate, the paint cracks off, the powder coated one apart from the dent is fine. BMW i3 Electric Car
