New windscreen new pillars??

Booked my car in for a new windscreen. Ever since I’ve had it it’s bugged me how scratched up it is. In the light it’s all you can concentrate on.

I saw on a you tube video that someone had a new windscreen and also got the a pillars replaced at the same time all part of the replacement. ?? Regards

Correct,
When Auto-glass replaced the screen on my other car I asked him what was it like replacing the RR windscreen.
He informed me it was a 2 man job, and that new A pillar trim came as part of the replacement screen process.
I would still get confirmation before work commences.
Hope this helps.

Hmm national windscreen said the trims are re usable so I’m annoyed about this lol. Also my insurance company don’t deal with auto glass which is who I really wanted to replace the screen. Regards

I had National do mine and I had to help as it is a two man job (to lift it in) and it was either that or re-book.

I'm trying to remember the situation with the trims. I think the trims themselves were re-used but there were new clips that slot into the back. Not 100% certain though.

The other thing you might need is a bit of adhesive between lower trim on the scuttle and screen. Without this you tend to get a terrible noise at speeds above about 50mph. I had to go back to get it done having driven about 5 miles from the depot! 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

Auto Windscreens did mine. They reused all the plastic trims, just replaced clips where necessary. As above they needed to come back out to put some adhesive between the scuttle and the lower edge of the glass. 2004 Vogue TD6 - Remapped Smile

To me it looks like your trim pieces are too low.

On my L322 they align with the shut line of the door window frame.

See pics.

Cheers, Rich

They are getting re fitted tomorrow because the fitter has used the wrong clips. I went for a drive and heard a pop noise when I got home drivers trim had popped off.

Drove to the fitting centre and they agreed wrong clips been used and the trim is not biting / holding tight enough.

Unfortunately they were out of clips today lol. Regards

Yeah, having them pop off when driving is probably not the best thing to happen.

Good luck on the new fitting, at least you have a photo to compare to.

Best, Rich
