I had a 65 plate GL 350 for two years after my L322 (think it might have been the newer version vs the GL 420) Great car, much more car like on the road than the L322, loads of space, quick enough, big presence (although a bit bling - I quite liked it), utterly reliable and very comfortable The 7 seats seemed like a good idea but in reality I never used them as my kids are still in car seats and you have to take them out to access the extra seating The interior felt a bit low rent vs the RR - fewer toys and not as plush, but very well put together 2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car! |

If you have the money, what about an early three door RR circa mid 70's but bang up to date running gear and motor? I had a 75 which I then put a 300tdi in and power steering etc.. Old skool charm with modern go and free road tax and no MOT! Or go big V8 and slam it to the ground? |

I considered one myself but the lack of a split tailgate ruled it out for me. May I ask why not an L405? |

I understand. I went through nearly 3 years of umming and aaahing about what to replace my Disco4 with. In the end I settled on wanting to replace it with one vehicle, I’d been considering two and made a list of all the features I wanted in a single vehicle. Then I prioritised the features. The FFRR ticked the first 6 or 7 boxes. The Disco5 wasn’t ever a contender. For several reasons but principally I didn’t have enough headroom due to the angle of the headlining. |
