TD6 Dashboard "light show" in the wet | |
Looks like I have a moderately sick TD6, 2004 model, visiting during the first week of September and will be expected to try and do something about it.
Reported symptoms are occasional appearances of lots of warning lights when running in the wet accompanied by brake grabbling as if the ABS system is being triggered. Seems to be associated with water on the nearside as in running through puddles. The car started riding badly, as if the suspension had become too hard, at about the same time and has not settled back. There is also a squeak from somewhere underneath. Its had its front ABS sensors changed.
Do these symptoms correspond to any known issues? I'm guessing the ABS issue could be connector related or due to chafing if the cables haven't been run correctly. I understand that if the sunroof drains aren't flowing freely one of the electronics boxes can get wet leading to bad connections.
Unfortunately the car has been mostly looked after by an "inexpensive" 4x4 specialist who I consider is not up to the job. Then partially sorted by a couple of other "inexpensive" specialists. Unfortunately the owner is a serial offender when it comes to getting her vehicles serviced on the cheap by folk who aren't up to the job. Which is why I've avoided serious involvement over the 60 - 70,000 miles she had had the car. But it looks like I'm lumbered now.
I have an old style Lynx diagnostic system which, allegedly, can handle the L322 if the requisite unlock code is purchased. If I buy the unlock code will it get useful information out of the system and allow me to properly clear fault codes. I got the Lynx for my P38 and, frankly was seriously underwhelmed. So much so that I got a Nanocom.
