Steering Angle Sensor - HDC/Air Suspension inactive

Looking for some advice and to double check I'm on the right track.

The x-mas tree of lights came up yesterday while parking, not sure what triggered it. Read and cancelled faults on the IID, but they all popped up again immediately, lock to lock didn't work either. The EAS and HDC faults were just intermittent/lost signal faults, but the SAS fault hadn't been there when I had issues a couple of years ago.

Checked the live values on the SAS and when I first start up it reads the values correctly. I can turn the wheel and take the degrees from 0 to 600ish, and then back through 0 to -600. When I then go to return the wheel back to centre, at around -200 it goes mad, says 1433degrees and locks the suspension out.

Guessing this proves that the issue is with the SAS, and it needs replacing. If so, are there any steps to take first, such as cleaning up connections etc? Seems as though replacing it isn't the easiest job.

TIA

Bump - issue has been intermittent since my first post, and has just started to wind me up again. Any hints and tips greatly appreciated.

It's not too difficult a job to do. The Rave manual says you have to disassemble the whole steering column, but I found a thread on a rival forum (Landyzone) Whistle which I followed and managed to replace my SAS quite easily, although did involve a little bit of contortionism on my part.
I got the replacement SAS from Island 4x4, about 90 quid odd if I remember right, and it took about 45 minutes to replace. I had the same problems as you describe, plus before the replacement I couldn't access the SAS menu on my BTIID Tool. All sorted afterwards. Thumbs Up

edit: just found the link to the SAS refit...

hope this helps Thumbs Up

Cheers Disco, that's really helpful.

Just a question on reprogramming, were you able to do so with the IID, assume it has the same functionality as the Allcomms mentioned, but wanted to make sure I have the tools for the job.

Thanks again

Yes, the IID Tool can reconfigure the SAS no problem. Just follow the instructions and it's easy.
