I’ve recently had them change a windscreen on my weekend car, but hopefully Alistair is right.

National did the screen on my d3, used a generic one and it worked a treat.

Call them tomorrow and insist on a genuine one and an experienced fitter and confirm if new trims and fixings etc come with it Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Had a bad experience with Autoglass which may be worth taking into account, i would recommend asking for a master technician even if that just means an experienced fitter and more importantly that there is an assistant because the size makes fitting easier. The first attempt with one guy ended in it being fitted incorrectly and was getting damp in the car. Also check they have all the fittings for the a pillar trim which differ from model to model. That caused an abhorted fitting. You are right to be paranoid, replacement will need managing. Once fitted (properly) you will become even more paranoid about that first stone chip!

Well called National this morning and the guy at the depo said he can order me a proper pilkington price of glass so I guess that’s good.

Also insist that someone experienced is booked to fit it even if it means taking it their depot.

Switch the heated screen on and hold your palm onto the outside of the windscreen. Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"
