Front Suspension Knock

Our late 2006 3.6 TDV8 has the infamous front suspension knock from both sides - only occurring at low / manouvering speed while using significant steering lock.
I've tried checking for ball joint play & worn bushes & the only thing I can identify is that the upper control arm (the rear compression strut) rear bushes flex rather easily & the internal rubber section doesn't look quite the same shape as images of new bushes on the internet. The rubber doesn't look significantly degraded / split, but there are a few small cracks.
It's very easy to rotate the arm so that it hits the nearest bit of the subframe - which I assume is what's happening when I put on the steering lock.

I'm having problems working out which replacement arm assemblies to buy.
The online Microcat that the Wiki links to indicates part nos LR018343 / 344 are correct & supercede the earlier parts RBJ000120 / 130 which had a different bush ( probably to reduce the knock problem ??).

However, many of the suppliers appear to be still selling the older RBJ000120 / 130 part nos - as if they are interchangeable & often at cheaper prices than other suppliers selling the LR018343 / 344 parts.

Has anyone seen the older & newer parts side by side & understands the differences?
Judging by the huge discussions about the problems of eliminating the knock - seemingly mentioned far more on the previous 2007MY vehicles, is it better not to take the risk of using the older part nos & just pay more to get Genuine / Delphi versions of the newer part no ?

According to my 2012 MCAT, LR018345 supersedes to RBX00200 which was the earlier part so perhaps LR018345 doesn't work as well as expected. However MCAT has some errors...

Edit 18th July 18. I must have been asleep when looking at MCAT as it shows RXB00200 supersedes to LR018345

that's intriguing, via the LRDirect website , I saw that the RBX00200 bush was superceded by the LR018345.
The Russian (or Rumanian, not sure - lol) Microcat site I used didn't have any info on what superceded what.
You're info makes me even more unsure what to buy ! Paul,

I just added a note to my post noting that MCAT isn't error-free so perhaps LR018343 LR018345 is still current.

LEMFORDER appear to make the genuine bushes and their picture still shows LR018343 LR018345 stamped on the bush.

None of the forum posts about suspension knock mention anything about LR changing the compression arm bush design, so there's no clue which may be better than the other.
The problems appear to have generated more discussion 6 + years ago.I don't know whether I dare conclude anything from that or not ? Eg later bush design is better ? Paul,

I purchased my April 2012 build with 18k kms on the clock and its front suspension rattled then, but is slowly getting worse . It gets a hard time with its oversize tyres and lots of rough tracks/roads and it wont be too long before I replace those bushes in the hope that the rattle abates.

It's bad that you got the noises so early! I assume you decided to just accept it.
I need to change tyres soon, so I want to sort the issue before I change them as I'm sure having worn bushes isn't going to help tyre wear / life.
Thanks for the info confirming Lemforder are the OE supplier.
It seems easy to find Lemforder bushes alone, but a lot more challenging to find Lemforder arm assemblies. I'm not willing to pay dealer prices for them as they appear to be £160 or so each Shocked Paul,

Is it a continous knock?
Mine does as exiting our park at steep uphill turning left,like smt is ticking on the wheel.
I could not make the knocking on level surface even how hard i turn or accelerate.
It does uphill and after 3/4 lock. 2010 3.6tdv8 180k km.

On our car, the noise is a single knock when the steering wheel is turned to near full lock at low speed.
The noise does not repeat until the opposite lock is selected - but then from the other side of the vehicle.

Your noise appears to be something different !

Mine rattles going forwards or reverse over bumps including car-park speed humps.

my worst rattle was the driver side lower ball joint , knocked it tits off , the other was a rear arm bush on the same side but that was only at speed and while turning left

Its been a while but mine's rattle was caused by a floppy right side lower ball joint, the same as Bembo449's.

My Lemforder LR018345 replacement bushes didn't last 20K kms - they've split again and the car pulls and wanders under brakes again. I think they're not HD enough, too much designed towards providing a soft ride.
