Since I've owned the car (2014 L504 4.4 diesel bought from main dealer in 2017 with 7,000 miles on clock) its been a pain in the ar*e to refuel. I've tried turning the pump handle upside down (and scratched the paintwork) as this seems to be the recommended option on here. I even thought new pumps are delivering to much pressure......things came to a head at the weekend whe nI gave up after £20 at our local BP garage. Lo and beholdwhen I got home I checked inside the neck of the fuel tack and, yes, the mis-fuel yellow gadget was activated. I have never put the wrong fuel in or the wrong pump so either this was activated before I picked the car up fromnthe main dealer or its activated itself.

My question is whether anyone else has had the experience of the mis-fuel device activating itself....

It’s easily done , did it with an old one, didn’t have a clue what was happening, first fuel up after purchase, much swearing had!

I 've had several jlr launch vehicles that the device has been activated, one had 50 miles on it! All were driven by jlr not press/public. I believe there are some out there that self actuate. Cheers

Good to know. It's obviously been like it since I picked the car up or has activated itself. I know the missus wouldn't have done it as, althoguh she occasionally uses it, she never, ever re-fuels it! I had looked down the spout and seen the yellow thing but to be honest I thought it would be more visible when activated so assumed it was 'normal.' I know mine was an JL management pool car......
