Minimum height clearance for underground garages

So I went into a downtown underground parking garage this weekend. I wasn't in a Rover so I didn't have to worry about height clearances but I did notice the yellow height safety bar at the entrance with a note saying "6 feet clearance", or basically 1.83 meters.

My first thought was,"Wow, that'll rip the antenna right off an L322!".

Anyway, after we park, we start walking to the elevators and I noticed a 2006 Range Rover HSE parked down in the garage! It had the stock 19" wheels and appeared to be at normal ride height too.

Isn't the regular ride height of the L322 about 75" or 1.9m? I was genuinely surprised that RR made it down there. I wouldn't have been brave enough to attempt it with mine! 2010 RR SC

Access height is 1820mm if you press the button on the console to lower to access height then hold it down the car “locks’ at access height and can be driven at slow speeds at access height.

Also factor in that the sign will likely be pessimistic and overstate how low it really is, plus it will refer to the lowest point, so with some familiarity you can likely get away with more.

Somewhat butt clenching the first tome though......

Ahh, Stan posted a helpful table of dimensional specs in the old post referenced above. Thank you for the link.

Posted again for reference:

So at 1.82m or ~72", that would mean the RR that I saw down in that underground parking garage must've entered the garage in access height but with pretty much zero clearance to spare! They must've raised it back to normal height after parking in the spot. 2010 RR SC

I know this is a L322 thread BUT is there a similar chart anywhere for a L405. I've just got one and it seems bigger than my old L322 - is this the case? Geoff

That must be why it seems wider, it possibly explains why it’s more economical Whistle Geoff

Always an issue here in China as most parking is underground with most having 1.85m clearance newer buildings are 2.0m which makes people avoid cars over 1.85m because of that(poor new defender). it is better to have and not need then need and not have

It's interesting because underground parking was never really an issue on my mind until I got my 1st Range Rover. These days, when required, I will drive my smaller daily driver into the downtown core just so I don't have to worry about overhead clearances in underground parking garages! 2010 RR SC
