BMW shortage of components from Japan

according to something i read they have less than 10 days of components

can see this seriously affecting production unless they can quickly find an alternative supplier

edit not 10 weeks but 10 DAYS

Unreal isn't it! I had a wander around the house showing the lad stuff made in Japan. Quite spooky.

think the Japanese govt is not telling the truth about the radiation risk - the USA who 'designed' the reactors are certainly very worried

Apparently their reactors are of the "boiled water" type and not the same system as we or the US use as the US and UK decided that that sort was a very dangerous type...................... it is also considerably less expensive to buiid than the systems used here and in the US. The Japanese have always kept very quiet about the problems they have had with their nuclear plants too. This one with all the problems is also more than 40 years old........

I also read somewhere yesterday that Toyota has lost 2300 newly built cars alone that were sitting on the dockside waiting for shipping when the Tsunami struck Sendu port and that Toyota at Burnsaton will run out of components by the end of next week, so Honda and Nissan will also start to suffer as they ship in a containership loads of car parts a week each into Southampton 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

from what i've seen on the telly that coastline is one big scrapyard, there'll be plenty of spare car parts 'flooding' [no pun intended] the market soon.. ... - .- -.

At least the next used Toyota that anyone gets will know that it's been round the block a couple of times ........

And up a hill , off a building , stopped by a pole , and lastly been delivered to the wrong house in the wrong area .....

Leaving ....... Embarassed ====================================

see that the Japanese govt have raised the threat level Sad

i think in economic terms this disaster will have far reaching consequences that few have yet revealed

the damage done to the 'psyche' of the nation - who considered themselves to be the world leaders in technology and innovation - is certain to have taken a severe knock both internally and on a more important international basis

of course you can understand the 'emotional' aspect of the nuke leaks after Hiroshima and Nagasaki

i'm hearing about all sorts of projected shortages from computer components to fishing tackle (more in the case of synthetic materials such as 'spectra' type fibres)

with some stuff they can but carbon composites have strict embargoes because of the military applications

anything in carbon from china etc is 'old' technology
