4 Wheel alignment - track rod arm seized

Apologies for the long post

Range Rover Vogue 4.4 Petrol 2006

Front lower and upper arms changed last week by an independent. I went to Land Rover Ditton for wheel alignment and they said they can't do it as front arms are non genuine and something is wrong with them. They can't do the rear wheel alignment as track rod arm seized to chassis. They still charged me £100 for just checking and letting me know that they can't do it. Below is the paperwork for the work needs to be done before wheel alignment. £2600 is the cost.

I took it to another place for 4 wheel alignment and they said both rear toe adjustment seized.

When I called rimmerbros for parts they said they are not sure of rear end adjustable toe links etc.

I am confused what needs changing at the rear end for 4 wheel alignment.

Could anyone please help? I am in Hounslow, London.

FFS!! LR Dealers ! Evil or Very Mad

Front End:

You may need to replace the outer and inner track rod ends if the outers will not release

Back End:

You may need to get the grinder / hacksaw out to remove:

a: the nut on the swivel end of the toe arm at the hub, in order to release
b: the nut on the inner end of the toe arm adjustable bolt in order to release

None of this is rocket science or particularly difficult, and definitely not £2600 worth
@ £200 tops for parts...off the top of my head

Use dan @ duckworths for parts (forum sponsor), or check on Island 4x4.
If you can't do all the above yourself, then you will have to pay someone the labour to do the work, but not at JLR !! .

Would you recommend any mechanic in London for this job?

Just had the same on ours, I had just done the rear upper and lower hub bushes with new bolts etc so naturally sent it to be tracked at a very reputable place who do all the local performance garages etc. Same thing couldn’t adjust toe on the rear passenger side, seized and needed to be cut off - my other half reported they had had a real good go at it.

However, I had a go with the wheel off which gives you more room for leverage and with a decent bar it came undone - so it’s going back next week to be finished, which they are only doing for another £20 so I can’t grumble.

I can understand why you’d struggle on a ramp with the wheel on, there isn’t much room to get in with the spanner’s.

It seems my independent is not goo enough to do that work. I explained him the problem on phone but he was not sure what i am talking about.

He is good in changing parts, breaks etc. When it comes to a bit complicated tasks he gets confused.

Like the pun Joe90, however for the pedants amongst us, to steer WELL clear of him he would need the alignment done, so can we just settle on steer clear of him, I thank you and apologies to the OP for moving off topic Rolling with laughter

It’ll cost what it takes to fix. Had mine done. Less than £200 for supply and fit I think 🤔 Gone to a good home: 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"
