Did Jeremy Clarkson bag the deal of the decade?

Quote:
"...When the snow came back in February, schools were closed because people couldn’t get there. My kids could, though. Because I’ve just bought a 15,000-mile TDV8 Vogue SE on a 57 plate. It cost a smidgen over £30,000. That’s less than half price. And you can halve that again if you go older. Or go petrol. It’s almost cheaper than walking."

This was written by JC in the Sunday Times on March 15th 2009.

A car like that would surely cost more now wouldn't it?

Yes but I think JC's smidgen may have been a chunk Thumbs Up

High Thirties maybe forty with 15k miles.

According to last month's TG magazine it is a very sick FFRR too with undiagnosable suspension problems, maybe he should join the forums for some tips! 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

I Don't think he still has that one, its very likely he has a newer one now, why would HE of all people, who changes his cars every 6 months at the most, keep one for 3 yrs when LR are falling over themselves to give him new ones? He's one of the highest profile exponents of the brand they have. Discovery 4 HSE

Also bare in mind the market was bad back then, not like the crazy prices now.
I only paid 24k (although it was a Td6) for a 28k miles Vogue just under three years old. LR were doing huge discounts on new ones as they couldn't shift 'em.
They needed to sell stock off to get money in the bank, and quickly. (according to a couple of dealers)
