Adviceneeded... new member changing from RRS to FFRR

Hi guys,

I am a member of www.rrsport.co.uk.
Ive owned my RRS 3.6v8 for around 3 years and have had my full land rover experience. All the highs and lows (4 turbo replacements) Sad .......

I'm now looking to move onto a FFRR for comfort and bit more luxury. Do anyone have any experience of this dealer?

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ad...dal=photos

Whats your guys thoughts on this car? It seems too cheap but having spoke with the dealer the car has full service history 4 stamps with dealer and the rest with Indie.

Im going to see it tomorrow. What would be the main concerns other than whats in the buyers guide in the wiki.

Little bit worried but i hope ive made the right decision to go with the fattie over the sport.

Thanks Chaps!

A wise decision, one I’m sure you won’t regret. It’s not an dealer I’ve heard of.

It’s not that cheap really, the backside seems to be falling out of the big engined diesel cars.
In saying that, it’s an AB with design pack, so pretty much wants for nothing.

This being the hardest part. 99% of the time I think logically about my decisions. The other 1% goes and makes stupid purchases.

This car will be used mainly for motorway as I want the comfort. My RRS gets 22MPG and I'm struggling to believe the 4.4 gets 30+ Shocked

Do all AB's come with park heat as standard?[/quote]

park heating is NOT standard IIRC. It used to be and may be on an AB, but is an option now (even on most L405's!)

Check if it has a heater fob with the main key.

Re MPG, you should get high 20s-low 30's if you do 70-75 MPH on Motorway but any town driving will bring this down to 23-25 mpg avge.

Can this be added as an after market accessory?

I've just realised it does but not in the main description. Would the mileage put you off?

No, not if it’s been looked after. There’s a school thought that these cars need to be used, so low mileage examples could prove more troublesome, but of course that’s just peoples opinions.

If you look on here, there are cars with much higher mileages than that (mine included). Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

Looks clean but my pet hate is the cheap “dealer’s mate fitted” cheap no name tyres so many on the forecourts have nowadays, I’d rather buy a car with half/three quarter worn Pirellis than some brand new ditchfinders, says a lot about a dealer in my opinion. David

Please let me know if my comments upset you, I may wish to upset you again.

I moved from a 3.6 TDV8 Sport after 4 years of ownership to a 4.2SC and now have a 4.4 TDV8 RR.

I thought the 3.6 was great (hated the 4.2 and it lasted 2 weeks) but bloody love the RR. The driving experience is completely different but serenely wafting along with more torque than the QE2 suits the RR more than it ever did the RRS, IMHO. The interior quality is on a different planet as is the ride quality.

Buy on condition and service history and get it checked over if possible, with the knowledge that it'll cost you £1.5-£2k/year before you turn the key and you won't go far wrong. Current: FF Westminster money pit

Gone:
RRS 4.2 SC
RRS 3.6 TDV8
FL2 TD4

Well ive been on the harsh end of the cost scale. My sport is my pride and joy and I service it every 6k miles.

Hoping the move will be positive. Im slightly worried the ride will be to wafty but i will find out when I test drive it.

The L322 is not wafty if driven like a L322 should, take corners like you have the Queen in the back and enjoy the drive. If you want a car that handles, buy a sports saloon Smile Steve

First of all, “LOOKS A MILLION DOLLARS. KING OF LAND ROVERS.” is a bit Del Boy.

Secondly, I don’t like how they cannot spell exhaust or privacy.

Turdly, and more pragmatically, I am wondering how many previous owners? 1 or 2 would warm me up, 4 or 5 would turn me off. A clumsy dealer stumbled across a real gem? Or they got it cheap because... well, it’s a bit dodgy.

In summary, when I look at this I think: there may be better out there... waiting to be discovered very soon. I do not think ‘deal of the century’. Rolling Eyes

Your TDV8 RRS is your pride and joy. How did you acquire it and what was the seller’s story back then? How different does that prior deal feel vs this particular car? Question

I’ve decided to go for it.

I went to check the car out and it’s in really good condition. Owned by a previous doctor who travelled up and down the country on motorways.

Used the buying wiki and everything worked as should.

The dealer was a nice guy and I felt comfortable doing the deal.

I pick it up on 6th June and I cannot wait!! The dealer is sorting a couple of niggles I have with it.

On the test drive I was so impressed how these things drive. Always thought they would have massive body roll but I was wrong.

Now I think I need to buy a gap iid tool ASAP to keep on top of things
