MOT 2 wheel rollers brake test on 4x4

Hi all,

just a question my mot centre i normally get MOT done, normally uses a decelrometer in footwell when testing my cars brake and handbrake and so on, this year i noticed from dashcam they used there 2 wheel brake test rollers.

i call asked about this as i thought 4x4's should be road tested as was told this before so it does not damaged the drive train on the car.

they advised they can test on rollors now and it 4x4 safe, but not really give me more info but there rollers are now 4x4 safe ?

so can 4x4 be test on 2 wheels rollors ? or have hey made a mistake and i just have to hope car will be ok.

thanks. 2003 Range Rover 4.4 Litre V8 - Adriatic blue

There was a long thread about this that I took an interest in as my MoT station did the same and I'm used to the Tapley meter so was a bit surprised.

Upshot seemed to be that some of the new brake test roller systems can do it by driving the wheels in opposite directions. That said I still want 100% convinced. Sad 2016 Skoda Octavia VRS Estate

If it's a normal open diff some of the newer machines can do it by running the rollers in opposite directions (as previously stated ) , if it's an LSD then dig out the Tapley .
