blue badge scheme - what a nightmare these days

i was 'diagnosed' as disabled and unfit for work by DWP nearly ten years ago

had a blue badge and its been renewed with no problem - UNTIL this time

the county council now insist on a referral to my GP - been there /seen it /got the T shirt

but no, the jobsworths want it again

so form sent to my GP and arranged an appointment to fill in the form - took nearly three appointment slots and quite naturally my gp and i say it as a waste of surgery resources

the Censored at the council REFUSED to accept any 'evidence' inc x rays done privately! - stupid socialist left wingers Mad

at last i got my new badge this morning - but how much has it cost the 'public purse'?

i know badges are abused but if you want a dodgy badge they are freely available online - i've seen one and they are as good as my original - they could only be detected by a computer check against the database!

My mother is a blue badge holder...................... wonderful scheme, but often when I see folks abusing it makes me fume with how inconsiderate many blue badge permit holders are toward other road users by parking (abandoning more often) their cars in dangerous places or blocking accesses. The pedestrian presinct in Stirling had to have bollards put across it 2 years ago because so many bluebadge holders were parking there it was dangerous for the able bodied to walk without being "accosted" by a driver trying to get parked - now there is no access for any driver except emergency services. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

It's a difficult trade off isn't it though. How to police the system without making it too difficult to apply/renew.

The badge is a good benefit, so I'm sure is worth the hassle. It's also a benefit as others have said that is severely abused.

It's about finding a happy medium.

That reminds me, a guy I work with uses his wifes badge all the time. She doesnt drive/have a car, he uses it to park on the double yellows in Bath when he takes the kids to the cinema whilst wife stays at home. Do they have a photo yet?

As far as I'm aware they have had a photo on the reverse for 3+ Years, still get mis-used/abused though.... Evil or Very Mad
