I would have it delivered there, but, if it was a diesel I would fully charge the battery turn as much off as I could and drive as a last resort. Wouldn't attempt it with a petrol though. |

When my alternator failed I managed about 20 miles home after getting the warning on starting when leaving a lunch stop. At home the car showed 11V and then coughed and stopped, after about 5 minutes. Driving home did not give rise to any further electrical gremlins. So no guarantee that you would make it and a lift would be the best way.

If you have a fully charged battery before you set off I don't see why you should have any problems doing 15 miles.

My experience was that the alternator failed but my wife was unaware and drove it until it stopped.(probably about 15 miles!) The battery was ruined and the warranty only paid for the alternator as batteries are excluded even though the battery was destroyed as a result of the failure of the alternator. |
