L322 rear brake hose replacement

Help. I have a leak and it's the rear brake hose. Some of the nuts to get it off are seized and the spanner won't get it off. Any ideas on that? Also, any idea, apart from JLR, where I can get the flexi hose? I'm in the North West and could do with it ASAP.

Pic attached of hose.

This is the one that's stuck.

You may have to get some mole grips on the union nut to turn it, or worst case hacksaw/grind through it, then replace union and re-flare the pipe. Before doing so, check that the pipe running back to the front of the car is in good order, that may also need replacing. All in the wiki. .

I would only fit JLR rear brake hoses as "copies" can have issues with rubbing against wheel assembly components.

Just changed my rear pipes & also had issues (Yours look worse than mine). I soaked them all in penetrating oil & still had issues. Big Cry
I also had to replace the pipe running from the OSR hose back over the carrier & connected into a union on the NS that runs back to the front (length was 120 cm with two male metric ends).

You will probably also have to replace the four plastic brake pipe retainers. Not cheap & hopefully the M6 bolts will come out (M6 x 16 mm).

As Joe said, you'll probably end up using mole grips.

Good luck. Thumbs Up

You haven't filled in your profile, so do not know which car you have but look here for spares / replacements

rear brake parts .

Thanks for all the replies.

I've now updated my profile. Very Happy

Yep, the brake lines look terrible. I have ordered the parts to do both sides. They usually go in pairs I'm assuming. JLR have quoted circa 90 for the pair.

Re getting the nut off, 10mm is too small and 11mm spins. Assume someone has had a go in the past or they've just really corroded. I don't want to make them much worse as it's not moving at all Sad

Yes best to do both sides at the same time, especially looking at the corrosion.

The nut is 11 mm, may help if you have pipe spanner. I did but still ended up undoing it with mole grips.

Try to have all the parts ready to swap, as it's a pain swapping the pipes with brake fluid leaking Shocked

Make sure that the brake fluid level in the master cylinder doesn't drop too much, or you'll end up bleeding the whole system rather than just the backs!.

Pretty sure someone on here told me the retaining clips are universal and these can be used as well (double check first though)

Some great advice. I will need some clips so I'll keep checking on here to see if there are universal ones (BMW).
